Before you stick it down
The adhesive layer is a 3M 467MP, a transfer adhesive made for permanent bonds. It builds up its grip over the first few hours and needs a smooth, clean and grease-free surface to do so — table oil, polish or cleaner residue are the most common reason a corner lifts later on.
Because the bond is designed to last, decide on the position beforehand rather than readjusting afterwards. On delicate or oiled wooden surfaces it is worth testing discreetly in a hidden spot before sticking anything where it shows.
